Aaron Landes
American rabbi (1929–2014)
Aaron Landes was a prominent American rabbi in the Conservative movement, who served his community with dedication and distinction. Born in 1929, he went on to become a respected figure in the field of Judaism, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those he touched. As a rabbi, Landes was committed to his work, serving as the spiritual leader of Beth Sholom Congregation in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, for an impressive 36 years.
In addition to his rabbinical duties, Landes was a man of diverse accomplishments. He held the rank of rear admiral in the United States Naval Reserve, demonstrating his commitment to serving his country. Alongside his wife, Sora Eisenberg Landes, he co-founded the Forman Hebrew Day School, which has since become a part of the Perelman Jewish Day School. Landes was also instrumental in establishing the Hebrew Free Loan Society of Greater Philadelphia, further showcasing his dedication to the well-being of his community. His influence extended to the realm of education, where he served on the board of governors at Gratz College, solidifying his legacy as a devoted leader and educator.
