Greville Janner

British politician and barrister (1928–2015)

Greville Janner was a British politician and barrister who served in various capacities throughout his career. Born in 1928, he entered politics in the 1970 general election, winning a seat as a Labour Party Member of Parliament for Leicester. This marked the beginning of a nearly three-decade tenure in the House of Commons, which lasted until 1997. During his time as an MP, Janner focused on committee work, notably chairing the Select Committee on Employment.

He served as chairman of the Board of Deputies of British Jews from 1978 to 1984.
